Farther south, Mākena becomes more open and natural, with expansive beaches and dramatic volcanic scenery.
Locations such as Keawakapu Beach, Maluaka Beach, Poʻolenalena and Palauea offer very different visual possibilities, from long sandy shorelines to lava rock, tropical greenery and open ocean views.
